We couldn't resist using the above image of Tenzin Gyatso, His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama of Tibet in conversation with President Barack Obama, who does happen to bear a striking resemblance to the President of the Theosophical Society, Mr Tim Boyd; although, as far as we know, President Obama has no significant connection with the TS.
The young Dalai Lama however visited the international headquarters of the Theosophical Society (Adyar) on several occasions, including in 1957 and 1959. In 1990, His Holiness delivered the Besant Lecture to the international convention at Adyar.
In 2011, at the invitation of Tim Boyd, the Dalai Lama paid us the great honour of joining the Theosophical Society.
